academic environments this can include: those organizations that provide
reference services (national, institutional, domain-specific) for
locating, using and managing research data
- Communities involved in the development of data management tools
- Those involve in data training, data management policy, economics
of data management and research data repositories taking ,or planning to

- Introduce IASSIST and the work of Ibero-american engagement action group

the Bristol Online Survey utility can be employed for data collection.

technical infrastructure, tools and data resources, training and service
delivery using the BOS tool via personalised emails and (yet to be)
identified mailing lists.
- Compile views about what an organisation such as IASSIST could to do from a local and national perspective.
- Conduct a gap analysis in terms of comparing North
American/European data support infrastructures with that which currently
exists for Latin equivalents.
- Analyse survey responses with a view to a) contributing to further
iteration of methodology (see below) and b) to form core of findings
to be fed into reporting mechanism
2. Apply methodology for selected institutional social science libraries in Portugal and Latin America.
3. Include identified organisations in a list of data services in the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America.
Note
Data service providers such as Ibero-america national and regional
statistical agencies, governmental and research funder data centres are
beyond scope for this phase of the exercise. Such an exercise could be
continued as phase two.
